    Is there a better rose than this anywhere in France? 100% pinot noir from old vines gives this supremely elegant wine with fine fruit, saline minerality and a sustained finish.

100% Pinot Noir, 35 yr old. Massale selection on 3309 SO4 and 41B rootstock. 7500 vines per hectare trained single guyot.
Limestone and limestone-clay soils. 20 to 40cm deep above the limestone mother rock. Average slope 20% - all aspects. 270m above sea-level.
On hillside sites, all the vineyards are enherbé between rows both to help reduce yields and prevent erosion. The vines are ploughed in winter and spring where the vineyards are flatter. No chemical deweeders used. Debuds to lower yields but never practices vendanges en verts. Uses sulphur against oidium, homeopathic doses of herbs and Bordeaux mix against pests, and only occasionally compost. 100% manual. Yields 47 hectos per hectare.
The whole grape bunches are left to macerate for 24 hours. Indigenous, natural yeasts only, no chaptalisation. Ferments at 18°C in enamel lined cuve. Pneumatic press. Press wine and free-run juice are vinified separately. The malolactics do not occur. Racked twice and kept on the fine lees. Collage by kieselghur, no filtration. Bottled using their own bottling equipment. Produce 5000 bts.
