In 1998, Emmanuel de Soos took over the family’s estate Château de Rieux including the cave which dates back to 1870 – becoming the fifth generation of vignerons at the helm.
The domaine is situated at the foot of the Montagne Noire, in one of the warmest, most precocious spots of the Minervois appellation. The vineyards extend over 25ha in a soil mixing clay and limestone with yields limited to 30hh. Emmanuel is currently converting the estate to organic practices to increase life in his soils and preserve the local biodiversity.
As well as his Minervois, Emmanuel produces a range of excellent VDP, under the Domaine Rougié label, representing excellent value for money.
