Perfect as usual. A gorgeous colour, the fruit has a very natural, scrumptious quality with old viney grip, and really silky tannins. For drinking now to 2017.

5 lieu-dits – Les Liards, les Peullets, les Pimentiers, les Planchots, les Preveaux. Soil made up of limestone and alluvium – the mother rock (limestone) is 1.30 mtrs below the surface. 220 metres altitude with 5-20% gradient south facing slopes.
Viticulture
Guyot simple and debud. Doesn’t like vendanges en verts and so prunes to 7-8 branches per vine and one bunch per branch. Ploughs the soil in the autumn and then cuts back grass when necessary. Sulphur to prevent oidium. No treatments against pests/insects. Organic compost. Averages 43 hectos per hectare. Prefers to harvest later when the grapes are fully ripe. Hand-harvested.
Vinification
Destalks 100%. Cold soak for 10 days; no chaptalisation or artificial yeasts or enzymes. Starts fermentation slowly up to 33°C max. Pigeage twice a day for 5-6 days. 20-24 days cuvaison. No delestage. Vin de presse is assembled. In certain years carries out batonnage during the winter until malolactics completed. Aged in 25% new, 1, 2, 3 & 4 yr old barrels. Adds 5 grammes of S02 per hectolitre at the start – then none is added during the elevage. No fining or filtration and small dose of S02 at bottling. Bottled in December after 15 months.
