Stretching from the Côte Chalonnaise to the south of Mâcon city, the Mâconnais vineyards extend for 40km forming a set of hillsides bordered by the Saône and Grosne rivers. In the heart of the Mâcon appellation on clay-limestone soils, the Jambon family has been making wine in Pierreclos since 1750, and their 12ha estate looks down over the valley and towards the emblematic Roche de Solutré.

Pierre Antoine Jambon ran the domaine until he was joined a couple of years ago by his childhood friend Michel Prudhon. Committed to growing healthy vines, they practice environmentally friendly viticulture, yields are deliberately kept low for the region between 40 to 48hh and the grass is encouraged to grow between the rows of vines.

All the wines come from slow spontaneous fermentation, the use of sulphites has been moderated and cuve ageing on fine lees is carried out for 6 to 8 months.

Succulent chardonnay fruit, good balance, and a slightly salty, chalky aftertaste define this excellent value wine.
