Owned by the Jeannot family for the last 200 years, Alexis Jeannot is now at the helm of the domaine’s 15ha and has become the first member of the family to bottle and sell the production rather than selling on to the négoce.

15% of the domaine’s vines are over 50yo which is very rare for the area, where most vines older than 20yo are dug up and replanted for higher yields. Alexis is one of only 20% of local vignerons to plough his soils mechanically and doesn’t use herbicides, allowing grass to grow between the rows to help limit erosion and the yields.

The vineyards are planted on the famous slopes of Saint-Andelain (home of the Dagueneau family), where the soil is mainly comprised of flint as well as Kimmeridgian marls and chalk.

Domaine Jeannot

100% Sauvignon (13% alc.)

Jeannot’s wine comes from the flint-rich soil of Saint-Andelain. There is a distinct pear skin note on the nose, following through to the palate which is ripe, harmonious, with flavours of elderflowers and gooseberries. We’ve been working with Jeannot for over 20 years and the balance and harmony in this wine, with a lower level of sulphur than in the past make it the finest we’ve tried from them.
