177 Chiroubles AC 2010
Daniel BoulandGrape:100% Gamay (13.5% alc.)
Daniel Bouland’s Chiroubles comes from a 0.65 hectare vineyard, 30 year old vines and a yellow sandstone, very light in composition. The vines face north-east, useful in an exceptionally ripe fruit-intense vintage such as 2009. The flamboyant dark cherry and raspberry fruit put one in mind of an excellent Dolcetto d’Alba from Piemonte. For drinking now to 2013.

179 Morgon AC 2009 Corcelette
Daniel BoulandGrape:100% Gamay (13.5% alc.)
This comes from 45 year old vines planted in decomposed schists on low yielding quality rootstock called Vialla. Using natural yeasts and low yields together with foudre ageing, this has dense red fruits, good structure with an irony, stony rasp from schist on the finish. For drinking 2013 to 2019.

*New* 180 Morgon AC 2009 Vieilles Vignes
Daniel BoulandGrape:100% Gamay (13.5% alc.)
This comes from a one hectare plot of vines planted in 1926. Yields here are naturally small and from the exceptional vintage of 2009, in which the natural fructose content of the grapes was super concentrated, the results are off the scale. In a wine as good as this which has an iron core running through, there is a distinct comparison with a top Northern Rhône red. The fruits offer ripe blackberry, mulberry, tobacco and spice and the savoury old vine tannins add real structure. It has an exceptionally long finish. 93 points Robert Parker. For drinking 2014 to 2024+.
