    Christophe produces just 0.23h of viognier from young vines high up on the hillside on granitic soils in St-Michel-sur-Rhône. Very good value viognier, with typical notes of peach, pear skin, mineral touch and vigour on the finish. Limited quantity. For drinking now to 2018.

Grape
100% viognier. Massal selection (coming from St Michel sur Rhône) on R110 rootstock; old vines selected by a former viticulturist. 4 year old vines. 8.000 vines per hectare on average. Trained single guyot.
Terroir
Granite with calcareous veins; a few veins of limestone, 320 mtrs above sea-level. South and South East aspect on 10% slope. Soil depth 50cm approx.
Viticulture
Debudding. Carries out light vendanges en vert. Deweeding under the row. Scrapping at the beginning of the season. Grass is kept once it starts to grow again. Uses copper and sulphur against oidium and mildew. Uses herbicides. Organic fertilizers or compost at the end of the Winter if needed. Harvested by hand. 40 hectos per hectare yield.
Vinification
Pressing for 1h by a Vaselin press, cold settling of the juice for 24 to 36 hrs. Fermentation in 1 to 4 years old 225L barrels at 16°C using natural, indigenous yeasts. Alcoholic fermentation for 3 months. The wine naturally carries out its malolactic fermentation (usually in Spring). Aged for 8 months in the same barrels. Collage with bentonite if necessary, generally light filtration by Kieselghur. Only one bottling a year by a service provider. 1.400 bottles produced on average
