    The vines are located in gravelly subsoil of the plain of Pommard. Aged in one to seven year old barrels, it has a succulent, red berry fruit enhanced by stony notes. For drinking now to 2011.

    Winemaker: Claude Maréchal learned his trade from Clape, Dervieux, Rayas and others in the Rhône.

    12 hectares (3½ of which provide grapes for Bourgogne Rouge) 
    Grape: Pinot Noir – 20-50 year-old vines planted in 10 parcels. 10,000 vines per hectare trained single guyot and cordon de royat. Clones-777,114,115 on 161-49, 3309C and S04 rootstock. 
    Terroir: Gravelly clay (from the Saone river). Planted in the plain of Pommard at 220 metres altitude with 5-20% gradient south facing slopes. Depth of soil-30cms to 1.5 metres. 
    Viticulture: Doesn’t like vendanges en verts and so prunes to 7-8 branches per vine and one bunch per branch. Ploughs the soil in the autumn and then cuts back grass when needed. Sulphur to prevent oidium. No treatments against pests/insects. Organic compost. Averages 43 hectos per hectare. Hand harvested. 
    Vinification: Table de trie. Destalks 100% but no crushing. Cold-soak for 8-14 days at 10C. Natural yeasts and no chaptalisation. Fermentation starts slowly in cement vats at 20C to 35° max for 6 days. Pigeage twice a day for 5-6 days (no delestage). Total cuvaison 20 days. Pneumatic press. Press wine assembled at start. No heating of cellars for the malo. In certain years carries out batonnage during the winter until malolacatics completed. Aged in 1-5 yr old barrels with no sulphur used during elevage – topping up done meticulously. One racking. No fining but occasionally filtered if not clear. Bottled with a low dose of sulphur, after 12 and before 15 months. Total production: 75,000 bottles
