Jeannot’s wine comes from the flint rich soil of Saint-Andelain. There is a pronounced flinty character on the nose, following through to the palate which is ripe, harmonious, with hints of grapefruit and peach. For drinking now to 2013.

domaine:13 hectares Grape: 100% Sauvignon 10-50 yrs of age. Rootstocks-3309, Fercal, SO4, 5BB, RSB1, Riparia. Age of vines- 15% are 50 years, 30% are 25 years, the rest 3-25. Density of 6993 vines per hectare. Trained single guyot. Clones and massale selection. Terroir: Gentle rolling hillsides. Soils comprise- clay and flint mix (60%), kimmeridgian marl 30%, limestone (10%). Altitude 200-270metres facing south. Viticulture: De-bud but green harvests only when needed. Allows grass to grow to limit yields and ploughed in spring depending on the weather. Chemically clears weeds between each vine. Sulphur to prevent oidium. Organic fertiliser applied in the spring. Machine harvested. Yield 60H/H Vinification: Pneumatic (Bucher) press. Juice left to decant over 12-24 hours. Selected and indigenous yeasts, ½% of chaptalisation normal. Alcoholic fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel at 18-20°C and for 20 days. No malolactic. Left on fine lees in cuve until racked in January. Fined with bentonite, Kieselguhr filtered and bottled in April, using their own equipment. Press:
