    Grape:60% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Syrah, 10% Merlot (12.5% alc.)

    Campaucels work really hard on vineyard management to produce wines with both local character and elegance. This wine offers supple red fruits, with garrigue and spice aromas and lower alcohol than most Languedoc reds.

    Grape: 50% Grenache clone 101) 25% Merlot (Clones 346-181-348) and Syrah (747-471-525877-174) Mourvèdre (Clone 369), 25% Cabernet (Clone 100) On root stocks 140ru and SO4. Trained to Royat at a density of 3333-5550 vines per hectare. Average vine age is 30 years.  
    Terroir: Marnes-Argilo Calcaire at 80 metre elevation with a south facing 6% slope. Topsoil depth of 30-50cms  
    Viticulture: De-bud rather than green harvesting. Ploughs between vine rows during spring and autumn. . No herbicides or fertilisers are used. Mechanical harvesting at night avoids the heat of the day and ensures that the grapes reach in the winery in optimum condition . Yields are at 45 H/H  
    Vinification: Bunches are 87% de-stalked but not crushed. Fermentation at 16-22 C (Drapeau immersion for cooling) is in cement cuves using natural yeasts and neither chaptalisation or acidification. There are 3 remontages during an 8 day fermentation and a total cuvaison of 15 days. The press wine is added straight back after pressing (Vaslin) The malo-lactic takes place without raising cellar temperature. Élevage in cuve last for 12 months without any racking. The first of three bottlings (without filtration) takes place during the January after harvest. Synthetic corks are used and total volume is 25, 000 bottles.
