    Grape:90% Malbec, 10% Merlot (12.5% alc.)

    The 2005 has a gorgeous deep raspberry colour, a mix of blueberry, cassis, liquorice and menthol hints on the nose and palate, medium-body and fine silky tannins on the finish. It is one of the top vintages over the last decade. For drinking now to 2012.

    20 hectares total of which Juline is 5 hectares. 20-25,000 bottles produced 
    Grape: 90% Malbec, 10% Merlot - planted 1970 from clones and on root stocks 3309 and 420A. Trained to Guyot simple with an average age of 35 years. 5000 vines per hectare planted. 
    Terroir: Red, iron-rich breccia, derived from the insoluble residue of limestones, dissolved away by millions of years of rainfall and soil fermentation. South facing at 120 metres above sea level 
    Viticulture: Grass left to grow between rows and ploughed deep once every 3 years. Vineyards treated organically – no herbs or pests. Both de-buds and green harvests. Leaves trimmed to give maximum aeration and exposure of grape bunches. Uses SO2 against oidium and copper sulphate to combat pests. Harvest 100% by hand with several ‘trie’. 40 hectos per hectare.  
    Vinification: Destalked 100% - pumped into cement vats. 2 day maceration à froid at 12 C. Natural indigenous yeasts only for the alcoholic fermentation. Three remontages each day, and one or two pigeages, no crusher used. Max temperature never exceeds 25º C. Seven day alcoholic fermentation and 15 days maceration. Horizontal Vaslin press after which free run pumped off into cement ageing vats and mulch into a press. The juice from 1st pressing is generally added back. Malos completed. Elevage of 18 months in cuve during which they rack 4 times. Unfined, light filtration by plaque. Bottled in June after 20 months.
