In the current edition of La Revue du Vin de France, in which they tasted 100 Rosé Champagnes, rosés from the likes of Benoit Lahaye and Chartogne-Taillet did really well, but the top-rated wine from Vine Trail was Bérèche’s superb, limited release cuvée Campania Remensis which came 2nd equal together with Selosse of the 100 rosé tasted. Made from 40yo vines grown in Ormes on silt and calcareous sands, it is a blend of 65% Pinot Noir, 30% Chardonnay with 5% red wine added of Bérèche’s Coteaux Champenois rouge from Les Ormes. Vinified in 3-6 year old barrels and then aged under cork for 3 years (99.99% of rosé are aged for a brief period under cap), it was disgorged last year with a 4 g/l dosage. We have just 156 bts available.
